Might be right for this site but, dose not matter where I set my PIR sensor for the garden my neighbour seems to set it off, so can any one help me with ground level sensors so that only the dog or some other intruder at ground level will set off not people from other garden sensor set 2m high to cover back door.

Would like to be more pro active dose any one know of a low level sensor like break beams but cover a bigger area.

Retro reflective photoelectric infra red sensor. Bounces a beam off a reflector, if the beam is broken the sensor switches the light. you can set this at any desired height . can be used over considerable distances also. Fairly cheap to buy.

Try one of these:

You should be able to wire it into your existing lights and mount it at low level, ensure anything you do install outside is IP54 rated and installed as per the instructions. It has a 120 degree arc so if you install it at the corner between your house and your neighbour's garden wit will cover your garden but be shielded from your neighbour.

There’s a house near me that has one of these. The beam is so obvious a burglar would just step over it

Yes I was think and in an arc how do you step over that?
You get some that are a laser gate, you can see the emmitter/receiver and the reflector. There is one near us in the outside of a wall that you would break as you climb the wall. You see them often in shops either as an alarm or as people counters.
