Or, become a full member and you can upload files directly into your post
Still need to click to enlarge.
I like pics well displayed and use Postimage. No account or login needed unless you want to. Google Postimage and allow it to access your pics. It’s ridiculously easy to host full size pictures.
No you don't! You have a choice of uploading as a thumbnail or the full file. Unless you're saying that the photo below is too small?]
Ahhh Rich, that picture of that Canadian is just pure temptation, yet so far out of reach....View attachment 57165 Test pic. This is what I generally see below, if I click Full Image they display like the Bark River above. Worth knowing, cheers.
I am not a maker, so everything is for fun, presents or to relax. My current drill bits do not touch this stuff, so use a diamond ball bit (a number of them), and slowly cut away, using plusgas oil to aid cooling. For the metals that you drill, what are the drill bit tip angles?
My machinist's handbook lists 5 with good reason.

Anyway to get back on to topic, here is an example of a tap talk image, medium sized...my version of a canadian in hss steel that is a devil to drill !!!

I was thinking about getting a carbide bit, but had a few diamond bits from the last hss project a few years ago, when I made an insane bushcraft bladeCompletely OT, but it’s often easier to anneal the blade, do the work, then harden it again. Or it may be possible to spot anneal where you want to drill with a blowtorch. Grinding the blade is going to be slow because you’ll need to keep it cool.
Otherwise, try a carbide bit maybe?
