Just bought a man bag :)
The idea was to have a little bag for going for a walk in the woods or by the canal, which are both local. The rucksack just seemed a bit much for so little stuff.
My first impression is its smaller than I realised. There was an internal divider but this made it really difficult to get stuff in, so this has been removed.

My first look at kitting it out

Your thoughts people.

It's too small to get water in, which I hoped I could have. However this will just have to be carried on my belt.
Since the pic I've added a compass and paracord.

Your thoughts.

Ps the thought you should have got the bigger one is not helpful :)

Yep ! nice set up for a walk in the woods etc, If I can offer anything it would be.. a cheap ally turkey roasting tray chopped up, folded, as a wind shield. For the sake of a quid.

Can you clip the water bottle to wear the strap meets the bag?

I have to say I like the look of the bag, but prefer one that I can rummage in a bit.

Bottle only goes through horizontal so then twists the strap when threaded vertical. Mod could be in order.

They do a four section one, or same size as four but with no dividers. They are about A4 folder size. Didn't want one that big, but this is a bit shorter than I'd hoped :)

I have had my eye on one of these bags but was put off by the internal divider. How easy was it to remove and how neat was the removal? I had thought of using it to store a Swedish water bottle and metal cup as they are so much smaller than normal water bottles and cups. Do you think one of those would suit?

Quite easy just go steady. Just ran a sharp knife along the stitches and eased it out. Back side was easy. On the front the rivet holding the clasp goes through so you hit this near the bottom. Go steady and start from the bottom and then twist it off the rivet. Very clean job, you would never know it was there.
Not tried a Swedish water bottle but will look for one if its smaller. What metal cup is it?
The bag is 7" high if that helps.

It might be a tad tall then. It was actually a Swiss bottle I was thinking of. The metal cups are normal cup size which is one of the things I like most about them and the fact that they don't actually look that military.

Where did you buy it? Looks like the perfect bag for a DSLR camera with the divider in place. Shame you can't fit water in there. What do the bigger ones look like? i cant find them anywhere.

I noticed the whistle in your kit and feel I should mention that I've had one very similar on my keyring for years. Last weekend I actually needed a whistle and went to use it, only to find the little plastic insert had dropped out, making the whistle useless. I managed to improvise a bit of ash twig to replace it, but it wasn't ideal. Sorry to stray off-topic.

The bag looks great, must have time-lord technology for you to get so much in it! There is a larger version availabe, made exactly the same way in canvas & leather that might be a good alternative.

What whistle? But I should add one. My guess is your looking at the mini mag, or my homemade fire flash :)

Link for my bag. No affiliation but posted same day I bought it and arrived next day

Link to the bigger one with no partition. They do one with four partitions as well. Same seller, so you could remove the ones to suit your needs

Do indeed. Will look at that. However I need to jiggle things in any case. Crusader is a big cup of tea, so ideally want a smaller steel/titanium cup but on a budget. Saw a short oval (500ml I think) water bottle today but really over priced. Will keep looking.
That or some mods to sew/rivet fittings to one end could work.

Have you seen the Swedish gas mask bags? That's what I use for my DSLR fits perfectly and looks so much better that the horrible modern nylon jobbies..:)
