Hey guys

I'm having problems with my boots YET AGAIN!!!!

I've bought commercial brands before and I'm sick to death of sore feet and boots that say they're waterproof but they aint

So I'm laying myself at your mercy, I'm a size 11 or 12 dependant on fit so what do you recommend?

I've bought Meindl for the last 10yrs & can't fault them TBH. Boots are a very personal thing though, I'm sure you'll find something to suit you. I'm currently using Mendl Nepal GTX's - very comfy & still waterproof after 3 yrs of mountain & dog walking.

I've got MEINDL MSR Island Pro's.
I wear them daily for work and I use them in the woods, even in snowy conditions with some gaitors attached.
They give a good amount of grip on all surfaces, they are fully waterproof and absorp shocks pretty good.
I have them 2,5 years now, use them daily, they can take a punch. Just look for any review on the web, probably the best boot ever made :D
its a B/C type, so they can be used for daily use or you can use them for very long hikes in the mountains.
The only thing you should do is give them some grease once in a while.

higly recommended!

Hi there
I just got a pair of Lowa Combat boots and they have to be amongst the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn. a bit stiff in the leather when new but soon soften up.
They advise that the sizes are a bit on the small size so fo my size 11 I took their 11.5 and its perfect. The have a chart on their site that gives you the sizes in mm. Its easy enough to measure your feet on a piece of paper to see what size you need.
Cheers
Gareth

I'd avoid a goretex lining and look for alternative ways of weatherproofing, goretex will let you down eventually.

I've had good results from my Lundhags but they're not to everyone's liking

+ one for no MVP lining.
The moisture can not get out quick enough and you get wet .
If they do get soaked I find they take ages to dry ( These are just my obs from 32 years of trying to find the right boots! )
Good luck.
Chris.

Personally I've never found a truly "waterproof" boot. The water around here is deeper than the average 8 or 9 inch boot height and it runs into that same big hole in the top of the boot that my leg fits in. I'd rather have boots with drain holes near the bottom to let the water drain out.

I know we still issue black, full grain leather for dress shoes over here but the combat boots went squede long ago (since the desert became the primary long term combat area) but that was after my retirement. I was assuming ya'll had because of what I see on the news reports and some British soldiers youtube gear reviews.

Which would you prefer, given a choice? From what I gather over here the reviews are mixed. Grunts like the squede for obvious reasons mut maintnence troops dislike the way that machinery/aircraft oils and grease stain them (although they too like not having to polish)

For dry hot then suede, but for wet anything, normal leather, no liner good tread and an in sole of my choice. Hot wet then add canvas and holes :D . The kit I have at the Moment is normal scale issue,
