Yellow Wood Bush Camp

has anyone been to this camp site....

If so, is it any good?

It looks like the sort of place there should be more of.

Obviously there is the list of sites that allow camp fires:

but I was after ones that were more tailored to bushcraft rather than camps sites that just happen to allow fires.

I have also seen this one:

Has anyone got any experience of these sites?

Also has anyone got details of a place that that is similar but closer to where I live - i.e. within Warwickshire.

With regards to Bushcraft Adventures, a search on here for "yellowwood" should return some useful reviews, quite a few poeple have written about them

It has had some very positive comments made about the place.

Would recommend www.yellowwood.co.uk to anyone and the owner Paul is a real gent.

PS its far from a commercial site and very bushy friendly.

Well I went this weekend to Yellow Wood Bush Camp.

Excellent is the best way to describe it.

I arrived on Friday at about 2pm. Had a tour of the camp site area with Paul (the owner) - water, toilet facilities, fire wood, etc - then set up my tarp and Bivi and got a fire going to have a brew. I then collect some green wood (with Pauls permission!) to do a bit of carving over the weekend. It was then about time to start having something to eat a settle down to chill out for the evening.

On Saturday morning I went for a walk in the black mountains and in the afternoon did some carving and just chilled out in the evening.

On Sunday morning Paul did a one to one course with me on wild plants for eating and we tried a few of the woods delights. It was a really good course and for only £15 was great value for money!

I eventually sloped off at about 4pm.

An excellent weekend. Next time I think I will be a bit more adventurous with my food and try to collect, filter and boil some water from the local stream - but it is really good place to price your bushcraft skills.

Glad to hear more good comments about the site, I am going over there at the back end of October and looking forward to visiting the place. Hoping to go for a paddle along the Wye whilst we are there too.

I stayed at the Yellow Wood Bushcamp over the Easter weekend this year and can heartily recommend it.
