Quite a few years ago, I bought a Feathered Friends down jacket to keep off winter's chill. I think I have worn it once, maybe twice in the intervening period. I'm sure that down works well in the polar regions and high Himalaya but, in the U.K.'s temperate climate, it is usually too warm and therefore impractical. Personally, wool + a windproof work best for me across a range of activities in a range of conditions.
In the meantime, if anyone would be interested in relieving me of the Feathered Friends Volant jacket, please do get in touch... I can guarantee that it will be inexpensive!
