Hello all,

Does anyone have any info on the camping policies of South West Ireland, especially Macgillycuddy's Reeks and around Killarney?

Any pointers gratefully accepted.

kerry is a very popular spot, and the people tend to be a little more touchy there than in other parts of the country vis a vis camping on their land. i dont know what the official stance is, but if you are planning a low key camp, staying hidden, you will probably get no trouble. even if the local land owner does come across you, if you are polite and offer him a cup of tea, he will probably be just fine with you.
camping up in the mountains on the commonage is just fine. no one will bother you. if in doubt, ask permission at the nearest house to the property. in and around the towns you will find camp sites, but they may be closed for winter.
hope this helps.
