what is the best wood to use for charcoal i have a load of monkey puzzle logs can these be used

Hi Thomas,

How big are the logs? I think they might be a nice wood. If you can split it into postable lumps I might be interested for a couple of knife handles.

Any hardwood can be made into charcoal. Softwoods can also be used but burn away too quickly.

i have just split the logs and wow what a suprise the smaller limbs are full of colour
yellow and browm stripes they are seasoned now so i will post some to you.
just pm me your address and i will sort out the rest hope they will be of some good.
not sure if the monkey puzzle is a poisonus tree so might be worth finding out
