If you know any hunters they will happily give you the short tendons from the lower legs as they almkst all chuck these out when field dressing the animal. Maybe ask at a local gunshop?

...Or even look up your local game butchers. If you want it to back a bow, dont overlook the backstrap sinew, which is easier to use as nature has fashioned it into a flat sheet, and often available in much longer pieces.

If you can get the back straps all the better, but during my time spent as a butcher I saw less and less 'butchers' taking them off before selling, and many who left nothing useable. Might be a bit better over your way though :)
