Hello folks!

Here´s my latest knife. A big one, Kankaanpaa blade, 175x38 mm.
Handle of Jakaranda, curly sallow and birch.

I made a hole in the handle to attach ones favourite chord/string, to prevent injuries when chopping away...

Very nice.

Can someone please answer a simple newbie question for me? What's the lanyard for? Many of the ones I've seen on here are just short pieces of plaited leather (or similar), and I'm struggling to figure out what it does... Cheers! :)

Hmmm, I´m guessing that it might look good sometimes. At least I think it does on some knives.
Also a longer chord could be put around ones wrist.

Remember, I´m just guessing here... ;-)

(Please correct me if I´m seriousley wrong)

Ah, that makes me feel so much better - if even the knife maker isn't sure what it does, then it's ok for me not to have a clue!
