I am thinking of buying a canoe for myself. Anyone know anything about open-topped canoes? Where to buy and what to buy?

What kind of canoe depends a lot on what you are you planning to use it for (flat water, white water, daytrips, week long trips) - and how (tandem, solo?).

If it is your first canoe, you should probably go with a low end basic. Try to get a used canoe as it is much more likely to hold its value - if you decide to trade up.
