Battery generators - what & why?

Mines marketed as 10years of power if used daily- think after that it's around 80% efficiency

Battery generators - what & why?

The charge time let's it down- takes longer than the much larger ecoflow. Although jackery now have a more portable 100 explorer with a lipo that can be charged via solar and would be perfect for phones/tablets/led lighting and torches. I'm very interested in the powerwall type solutions- I...

Battery generators - what & why?

Most refurbishment could possibly be returns. There's a dsr act (distance selling regulations) which means most items bought online can be returned within 14 days. There normally fully tested and warrantied and sold as a second/refurb. To save money I would definitely buy something that comes...

Battery generators - what & why?

Have a jackery 240 for travelling, its only really good for electronics due to the small size. Have an ecoflow delta max for around the house, had to do some electrical work and it was great during a rewire, and is pretty much perfect for what I want to run from it and expandable. My only...

    Bivvy Bag Upgrade?

I bought an outhaus palmerston 1500 last year. Possibly the most comfortable I have felt outside, but it was too big to take unless I was close to the car. Used it on a few sites where I was pitched right by the car with the other half. Sold it over the weekend and bought an alpkit elan...

    What did you buy today?

Sold my outhaus 1500 swag for near enough what I paid for it. It was too big and I don't do enough car camping or near to the car. Alpkit currently have a sale on so ordered an Elan bivvy to replace it

Tourniquet advice from a combat medic

In a combat situation the ability to extract the casualty to give further care may not be within a timescale to save a limb.

Tourniquet advice from a combat medic

A TQ is applied to stop a catastrophic bleed, and if applied correctly due to the lack of blood flow to the limb there is chance of damage being caused. Left on for too long and it could cause compartment syndrome. I would 100% prefer one be applied if needed rather than the alternative being...

Another solar power thread - advice & opinions requested!

How much space is left on the roof? What direction is it facing? Could always add more panels if you have the space purely for a battery of your choosing to run some of your household electricals to further lower your bill/charge an ev. Even if you start small and your system allows it you can...

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

That is exactly my interpretation of the law unless things have changed. Its classed as a tool and no valid reason is needed or can be questioned- However as has been already said they can ask if you think it could be considered a weapon, and the answer should always be a firm no, otherwise you...

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

Sub 3 inch and NON locking (sorry to be pedantic) Where has the legislation changed that states you need a reason to carry a non locking sub 3 inch? I can't find anything on the gov website that says it can't be carried without good reason. Who is to say that you have just eaten an apple and...

Need to be taught better- woodland vandalism

I get what your saying. Can't have your cake and eat it kind of thing. I suppose I would just like to see things treated with respect really and not the way I have seen it recently (I say recently but it's been like this for years with litter and the such).

Need to be taught better- woodland vandalism

Definitly. There's no local scouts groups near me and the area could be utilised better and more beneficial for kids and others who want to learn how to conduct themselves properly and lear how to be safe and responsible. I would happily volunteer myself a few days a month to some sort of...

Need to be taught better- woodland vandalism

It's disgusting behaviour. I have done a few litter picks as have others in the area previously. I get that it's voluntary, and I don't want to spend my time cleaning after other people, but if I'm there I'll take a trash bag and leave it by one of the bins in the council run park nearby.

    Arktis H110 35L daysack

It's a cheap online one of the clones from China. Managed to boil some noodles and make a brew from a fill running on the regular purple meths

Need to be taught better- woodland vandalism

Spent a few hours yesterday in the local woodland and was shocked at just how much litter I came across. Empty cans (alcohol) wrappers, bottles and left over disposable bbqs. So many trees had been attempted to be cut/chopped down without reason as there's an abundance of fallen firewood...

    Arktis H110 35L daysack

I took mine out yesterday for a short outing. Comfortable, functional with all of the pockets and storage options. I like the side pockets behind the rocket pouches, kept my knife and saw in them. My only criticism so far is the lack of water bladder pocket internally (use it to store a...
