Pre-Charge Pneumatic air rifle Stirrup Pumps

I'm glad to have got rid of the pump I had, last year. Memories: mainly one, take it apart regularly to dry the chamber out as it fills with water. Don't know if it is likely to start rusting the barrel if left wet. I think you have to get the 'body motion' right when charging: on compression...

    Government Consultation - Shotgun Licensing

Only recently, I took the opportunity to look into S/gun permits. Hadn't realised until that point that a big difference exists between a F/arms cert and s/gun licence. The latter is a legal right unless the local police can find any reason why you shouldn't. Former? no legal right to a consent...

    Futurproofing your house

Got to stop the damn fieldmice from getting indoors.......... Three outages this year already. Purchased Ecoflow Delta Pro 2.88 Kw/hr (they say 3.6Kw/Hr storage but that's nonsense: 20% of the capacity is used to run itself and all the features) but with the xtra battery at a true 3.6 Kw/hr...

    What did you buy today?

100 Water purification tabs. A new Chinese diesel heater controller. A new Horizone Redback to replace the very worn out one. 2/3 hours making those specialised adaptions to make it personal.

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

Was a discounted offer on Ebay for £129 including regulator. No-name I'm afraid but, max 400W; 5 blade, 12V AC. I've just taken delivery of the aluminium scaffolding tubes and fittings so, I'm in the process of a hybrid erection. Don't need max output just enough to top up 2 / 110Amp/hr deep...

    Cooking with a Trangia stove

By chance, came across this beauty on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=Portable+Outdoor+Handy+8Wicks+Kerosene+Burner+Camping+Stove+Heater+Fuel+Stove+UK&_sacat=0 Less than a tenner so throw away job if no good. Obviously bulky but a good general...

    Cooking with a Trangia stove

Filled, I find that burn time is about 10/12 mins. OK for a brew but damned annoying if cooking anything decent. Topping up the empty (and very hot) stove reservoir with meths.......... Secret (for continuity): have two stoves and use the pliers on your waist kit to pull the hot empty one out...

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

Hi there. Just noticed your above post. I fully understand the medical limitations. For me, its both hips and first one in 2003 wasn't done properly and I suffer daily. I keep one of those small gardening kneeling foam rectangles indoors for when I need to 'get down'. So I really appreciated...

    Regular Mid-Wales Meet up?

I realise that this is an old thread but I would appreciate anyone's knowledge of the area roughly bounded by Llanwrtyd Wells / Abergwesn / Clearwen Reservoir / Moel Prysgau Bothy down to Dolgoch Farm (OS Explorer 187). Now being of limited mobility, I cannot stray too far from my vehicle so...

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

Yes, I bought a four panel foldable 125W panel just to charge. So easy to set up. About £90 on ebay. Most difficult is getting the cable connection from the panels to the Jackery. It's an odd size. Got it eventually direct from China. I erect the stepladder out the back and trail the cable just...

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

I've got the 1000 W/hour Jackery. Three days off power earlier this year? I moved my Jackery around the two fridges and, more importantly, two freezers just to keep all, 'Topped Up'. Did the job so didn't have to resort to insurance claims. The Jackery? - A brilliant bit of kit. Go for a range...

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

Read one of your posts on this topic and intended replying but, in between logging on and going back, I lost your post that I had intended replying to. Anyway, in your, 'lost post' you say: "woodburner is sadly inset, so can't easily cook on it." If this was not your comment, I apologise...

Educational Videos about Orientation and Navigation with Map and Compass

Fond memories of the course on Woodbury Common many years ago (and the inevitable speed march back to Lympstone)

Educational Videos about Orientation and Navigation with Map and Compass

Totally agreed. Apart from land nav, I did the RYA course on Astro Nav (+ World Met) and went on to teach the subject. I was a regular RYA instructor at the time. Indeed, I still have my Sextant which I am toying with the idea of selling - to a buyer perhaps accepting hard work! I even designed...

    Retiring Tents

Good for you. With a heavy heart, I sold my Blacks Mountain tent owned from new Circa 60's (?). Couldn't get down to get in the thing anymore! Now bought this Tepee thing which, centrally, I can stand up in. Plus a stove - 'Luxury you can afford with Cyril Lord' as the expression went. Going to...

How to blend into the background?

The military ground it into you under the heading of, 'Camouflage & Concealment': "Shape, shine, silhouette, spacing (needs to be irregular), surface contrast colours, aircraft (sudden movement in looking up)". [Not forgetting 'camming' the weapon in particular any reflective tele sight lens]...
