I just bought a poncho, but then had an after thought.

I just bought a poncho, but then had an after thought.

I bought a Helikon weatherproof poncho today, mainly for use when I'm fishing in the rain. But naturally in the back of my mind I was thinking it would be good for camping in the rain too as it can be used as a poncho or a tarp. But then I had an after thought: do 'ripstop' polyester and...

New knife(s) day: Gerber haters look away now

Can you ever have enough knives? I think not. These two came home today, with a Ferrorod too just for luck.. The folding fillet was a bargain (I think), £6 as there's an mfg defect with the batch; the stamping is wrong. Gerber was £26, and the ferro £9. Happy days

Is there life left in the old axe?

My dear old Nan passed away nearly 8 years ago. Anyhoo the other day my dad gave me 'her old chopper' that he'd found knocking around the garage. (Tennis ball for scale ;) ) It's a 2 1/4 lb-er that she used it for chopping wood for the fire and I love that the back of the axe head is...

Thoughts on catapults / slingshots for shooting beer cans

Went for the Panther in the end. It was the shiniest and comes with paracord, what's not to like?!! Feels great too.

    What fire starter

Ferrorod and brasso for me. Saw it on a YouTube clip, it lights really well and comes in a handy sized can :) Though it might be classed as cheating I guess

Thoughts on catapults / slingshots for shooting beer cans

I'm planning on getting a catapult for target shooting in the back garden and maybe in the woods. I'm a novice only ever having my dads old wooden one as a kid. I think I've narrowed down my choices to the Dankung ones for about £40. But a Panther, Cougar, or Toucan? Anybody got advice on...

    The Hobbit

Can't wait for the hobbit pt3. Love them all, both hobbit films so far and the LOTRs extended versions, I can't get enough of them. Though I haven't read the books so I've no preconceived ideas about what is right or wrong re book vs. film. So I can enjoy the films on their own merit. A...
