I haven't been to Cairnpapple for ages! It's a really interesting site. I used to go to that hill at Kaimes Quarry, and found a lot of prehistoric plant fossils in the dissused part. My Dad goes shooting at the snipe bog by the hill.

That's a good idea. Thanks for the help. I suppose if I happen to find a suitable bone while out for a walk, I could use that unless it's old and brittle looking.

I've been thinking of trying to carve my own knitting needles and crochet hooks, but I have a few questions before I get started. What sort of wood would be best so they don't snap? Where in West Lothian is that? It is a lovely photo. I come from Balerno, so I know the area relatively well. We have had some lovely clear weather recently :)
