hi all,

Just acquired a new (old) wool army blanket. One of the Swiss Army ones with the Red Cross, which I think is a copy and not 100% wool but solid none the less.

It smells musty and like it’s been in storage for a while so could do with a bit of TLC.

Any ideas on the best way to clean it?

The best way of all is to hang it outside when there's no rain, let the air and the U.V. do their work. Doesn't need to be warm, bright and breezy is best.

Otherwise, if you've got a good washing machine that'll take the blanket, Woolite on the gentlest wool cycle.

thanks Macaroon,

In the end I stuck it in the washing machine on a wool wash, low spin, and its come out fine.
