What sleeping bags do you own?

  • Hey Guest, Early bird pricing on the Summer Moot (29th July - 10th August) available until April 6th, we'd love you to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE to early bird price and get more information.
Still have the camouflage mummy bag I got from my nan when I joined scouts.
58pat sleeping bag.
Issue arctic bag.
Eurohike 3 season.
Woodlore one ( I can never remember which name it has but it's the cheapest one works very well for me)
Issue jungle bag.
So six not too bad.

I would like a down bag but it's a want rather than a need.

Had a Snugpak Sleeper Extreme and a Snugpak Softie 2, ditched them and bought a Carinthia Defence 1. Sometime in the near future will get a one of Carinthia's winter models.

Hi, over the years I've owned used and abused a number of sleeping bags but at the moment I have a buffalo and the wife uses a nanok -5 which is half down half hollow fiber . saying all this I came across a German army bag with arms , now I had one of these when I was a teenager and all the memory's came flooding back sat next to the fire smoke in one hand beer in the other so I bought it and to be honest I still love em , been using it the last couple of camps and am using it this weekend

Ajungilak Tyin Winter. Great bag, kind of heavy but I've camped out in subzero temps several times in it and been fine.
Army issue bag, not as warm as the Ajungilak but still a decent bag.

If I'm too hot in a sleeping bag I just unzip it and lie under it, can stick a leg out if needed.
If I'm too cold in a bag it bothers me all night and I don't get decent sleep. Years ago I figured that every time I went camping the weather turned crap, so I got the best sleeping bag I possibly could afford and I've not regretted it for a second.

My winter bag is a Field and Trek own brand 5 season down bag from 1992 (when field and Trek were still decent). Cost me most of £150 back then. Still a brilliant bag, even having lost a little of its filling. Did me fine in -11 degrees in a hammock with no underquilt last winter.
I have a Mountain Warehouse synthetic bag for summer use, 2/3 season thing.
I also have a massive synthetic bag (no brand label) that I got for a fiver at a car boot sale. never used it. It is my back-up and emergency visitors bag.

Nanok comfort down -10, british army jungle/summer bag. Use the Nanok most of the time. If its hot i just use the army bag, if it drops a few degrees below zero combine the two, been fine in -9 sleeping out. I have a british army arctic bag too but hardly use it due to size/weight.

Just the two now:
Alpkit Alpine Dream 700
PHD customised bag

Handily, I can get the Alpkit inside the PHD bag for really cold stuff- I got the PHD bag very wide as I'm not the biggest fan of the neck being really tight- but then I lost 2 stone and its now comically big!!

Being a bit of a big bugger have always struggled across the shoulder/top of arms.

Have Snugpak 4 season (with extra-side baffle)
Coleman Big basin (if pack space not issue)
Duluth bedroll (can be used with either bags or blanket if very warm)
Buffalo 4 Season outer - good on wet boats but over snug around shoulder - also gets used as emergency bag in car
Old 3 season Vango MarcoPolo - about 30 years old!
