Here There & Everywhere
Yesterday (19 May) was my idea of a living hell - the royal wedding followed by the FA cup.
On the same day.

Having absolutely zero interest in either event, and wanting to escape the hysteria and overwhelming coverage of both, I decided that I had to get away for the day until everything had returned to normal.
Since I had been a good boy recently, having re-decorated the bathroom, I was given permission by senior management to go out for the day just so long as I brought home a takeaway for dinner that evening.

I had a two-part plan.
The first part was to head out for a ramble across the marshes.

Lots of reed warblers, several marsh harriers, LOTS of laughing marsh frogs. But best of all was that I got to see something I have never seen before - a turtle dove (sorry for the dodgy picture - all I had on me was a pocket camera).

Second part of the day was to head for the woods. I didn't get a picture of him, but as I made through the woods I was followed by a fox who kept parallel to me (some 20 or 30 yards away).

And my only concession to football blokeyness.

The rest of the time would be spent how nature intended - hanging in a hammock with a book to read, a pack of sandwiches, and several mugs of earl grey...

And it was chish and fips in the end.
I am pleased to say I managed to miss all of the mass hysteria and it's almost as if nothing ever happened!

Your idea of hell and mine are exactly the same. I so wanted to head out with the hammock, but family commitment got in the way at the last minute. Glad to see you got yourself out, avoiding both events was almost impossible.

Round the back skivving
Was away camping (the vanilla kind) with the missus thursday and friday so got back saturday lunch time, happy to miss the wedding of our unelected overlords but managed to squeeze in the Scottish and English Cup finals with some loud mouth soup on the afternoon.Partial to a combination of dirty booze and foozbaal. Now that the season has finished I can get away more.
