Need a new axe to play with

Do you see any differences in the bevels on each side which might be related to the cast of the blade?
Axe blades, to me, are more than sufficiently bash-worthy to resist that sort of cast.
Think of the force involved to bend such a blade. It couldn't have been wood.
Not even fresh birch at -30C can do that.

It does seem to be slightly flatter on the side it bends to, which if it was for carving it would make it left handed, but I don't know if it's just the twist making it seem flatter. It also has some deep nicks in the top edge where it twists, and what I assume to be deep pitting on the face inside of the twist. I don't know if that's evidence of a good beating or just coincidental signs of old age.

I've no experience with the Robin Wood axe but I've only heard good things.
If your budget stretches that far the GB Swedish carving axe is an absolute joy to use.

Having said that the old Kent patterns are good carvers as well.

I would try hitting it with a lump hammer myself Adam
You take a chance on ruining the axe but it might sort it
Wear safety specs
