I am an arborist, so the laburnum came from me. The knife is from a very old man in Finnland who just likes to make knives in the old traditional style ( short blade, long grip).
This knife I gave as a gift to a lady interested in bushcraft in Newcastle.

Me too, we’re lucky to get to explore wood types that many people will never get the chance to see. I have Yew roots in the garage that are just stunning once sandblasted and beeswaxed.

That bowl is also a thing of great beauty, so good on you for posting the wrong pic. :)

stunning work mate, my crude attempts won't be a patch but going to try for a small bowl out of the piece I have.

I have put it in the cool of the garage to try and keep it out of this blaring heat we are experiencing...

Cracks don’t really matter, and add to an “art” type bowl. If you don’t want too much splitting, paint the cut surfaces with PVA glue, varnish, or any type of wood sealant that creates a layer.. It’ll slow the process.
