You can buy steel traps for pretty cheap which work well.

To start trapping and killing them you just need a thin piece of bar to stab for tunnels.
Then use a pruning saw to dig out a trap sized hole and place the jaws of the trap in line with the tunnel holes. You then bury them so the handles just poke out and mark it with a stake. Wear muddy garden gloves to try and keep your scent to a minimum.

Avoid the traps in the first photo with a dead mole in it, its easy to buy flimsy ones where the springs clog and the metal rusts very quick.

The other photo with the white background, I found those traps to repeatedly be very effective
