I've just arrived home with a new vehicle, I bought the Ssanyong Rexton at a very decent price and have just driven back, about 120 miles, through heavy rain and very heavy Easter traffic, and I have to say I'm pleased with it so far. It's got numerous bells and whistles on it and a manual like a 'phone book but it's huge inside, comfortable to be in and to drive and although it is a little 'agricultural' I'm not in the least put out by that.

I'll have a read tonight and go play with it over the weekend and we'll see what it's like for real life work; I'm sure it'll be fine though.

Thanks all for the input, and I'll report back if anyone's interested to know?

Yeah, going well so far, thanks; it's taken a while to get to grips with all the knobs and switches, the manual is a weird 'korenglish' but I'm getting there. I've been on (and off again) some real dodgy ground that a normal vehicle would have sunk in this weekend, we have a moor that runs a few hundred yards from my front door and there's always problems when this amount of rain falls so near to a bank holiday and the eejits and gobshites come out to play. Now I can just get up the verges and keep out of the way while they make a mess.

The most impressive thing so far is pulling a horsebox with two big horses effortlessly a couple of hundred yards across a waterlogged pasture on Friday for them to go off in the lorry to a competition somewhere; I and all those present were amazed at how effortlessly it performed, and not much of a mess, either :)

Automatic in mine, but Tiptronic which is manual by another name and works quite well. I was warned off the manual box by somebody I know who has vast experience of all this stuff, and in any case they seem to be a bit thin on the ground; I only saw one while I was searching and that had huge mileage.

I forgot to add, Robbi, I'll be over your way a little later in Spring or early Summer, I need to spend a few weeks near Colerane rebuilding the engine in a boat that was ownwed by a sadly deceased brother.

I'm not sure whereabouts you're based?
