Caught my two biggest ever chub last year.

Previous three years did't catch anything, but usually have some interesting wildlife encounter. The year before a barn owl flew straight towards me (I was in camo & green and not moving) that was amazing.

Not today but got out yesterday on the Norfolk broads chasing pike. Plenty of follows to the boat but only managed one jack. Lovely day to be afloat and we got to see a pair of buzzards. Roll on the glorious 16th

Well, that was better than normal in that I caught one fish. Just a small perch, rather than the two clonking chub from last year, but hey I traditionally catch nowt.

But man was it cold - the wind from the east was slicing.

Still I saw a woodpecker and a jay and it was nice being outdoors for a decent spell.

Human amusement was provided by three rented narrowboats driven by numpties (cue Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws - "Ha ha, they're all gonna die!") and two extremely well-upholstered joggers who appeared close to some kind of seizure.

After all the distractions/disturbances I was looking forward to a quiet hour at dusk (when the action starts). Alas it wasn't to be, a couple of divs ripped past in a ratty old cruiser, as if they were Roger Moore in a speedboat - killing the swim and any chance of catching anything. To add insult to injury one of them looked like Justin Lee Collins - not a good look.

I have a rule that I stay till the bats come out, and boy was I glad to see them.
