Insulated jacket recommendations?

I went for the buffalo Alpine jacket and so far haven't regretted it! Although so far I've only used it for walking the dog,!
It does get a bit toasty when you get going, but I just unzipped a bit and was just fine.
I've got other coats that will do for when active in cold weather I wanted one for colder whether when I'm less active. It isn't going to be my last coat, but it certainly is going anywhere either!

Did you drop a size to medium?

I'm 41.75" measured chest so large but you said it was too big and iirc you're 41"chest size and changed to a medium. Is that right?

I'm looking at a special 6 shirt and wondering whether the fit is the same for that and the alpine. I know one uses chest sizes the other uses word sizes but is each alpine jacket size aimed at a wider chest size range so really at the larger size in each range?

Hi Paul,

Yes I went for the medium in the end. When I spoke to Buffalo they said the alpine jacket did come up big, but I'm not sure about the Special 6 sizing and cut though I'm afraid.

I was lucky to win a jacket from GoOutdoors a year or so back. It’s my go to jacket now for when it’s a bit cold. I do have a big down jacket for when it’s really cold though.
I wouldn’t have paid for this jacket as it’s an “own brand” however now that I have got it, I would have paid for it. So sometimes you just have to not think abut the name.

I recommend to have a look at Decathlon.

If you want it cheap, take Quechua.
If you want it tough, take Solognac.
If you want it light, take Forclaz.

Its more or less half the price, if you compare with the competition.

I stopped buying other clothing.

What's the temperature and humidity range that you go out in?
Snow is like sugar to us. That's why real snowshoes are mesh = just falls through.
Brush it off and keep going.
Trades here are expected to work out in -20C. That means Carhartt and Dakota.

In the end, for big snow even, I'd sling a deep fleece or a downie (plus a microfleece if needed) under a Fjallraven Greenland for affordable, relatively robust, pretty light and very to entirely agile ... might even add handsome

Carhartt is warm and wind proof and "agile"? enough for trades on scaffolding and oil rigs.
Not what you might have come to imagine. Climb out of the snow first. I have seen 44" overnight.
The stores tend to shift stock depending on how close you are to a city.

Dakota is the house brand of Mark's WorkWearhouse. It is an arm of the Canadian Tire octopus.
Lots of oil deck wear to -50C. Nothing to sneeze at. Guys tell me it's all good in the wind.
