    Still lots of Covid about?

The thing is, it’s such an easy thing to implement and it does make a real difference. As in, it will reduce the spread of the disease, even if it doesn’t curb it completely. If there had been enough masks available early on during the pandemic and they’d actually told people to just mask up...

    Still lots of Covid about?

Believe me, I know, I work with these things too. I was trying to provide a simple explanation of the general differences. If you're going to wear a mask of course you need to wear it properly and take care of it. And yes it is often uncomfortable and annoying. But so is a lot of other PPE....

    Beekeeping for beginners

If you‘re a decent woodworker you can definitely build your own hive, just pay very close attention to the internal measurements (bee space is crucial!) and whether the drawings you are using have top or bottom bee space. I thought it was amazing too, the first time I did a hive inspection.

    Handkerchiefs

I use a square of Blitz kitchen roll. Reusable and disposable in one :D

    Beekeeping for beginners

It's great that you're getting hands-on experience too. Some courses are theory only and it's such a shame. My advice would be to get as much practical experience as possible (e.g. by offering to help a more experienced beekeeper out) and not to get too distracted by fancy or alternative hive...

    Beekeeping for beginners

I‘ve been beekeeping for almost 10 years by now. I also run our local association‘s beginners‘ course in beekeeping. :) We‘ve just finished all our theory sessions and are starting our practical sessions towards the end of April. We get more than enough honey, even if we‘re not that interested...

    Still lots of Covid about?

Surgical masks protect others (a bit) from you, if you are infectious, by stopping you spreading aerosols and droplets containing the virus. It doesn’t protect you particularly well, because air can still move around the sides of the masks. FFP2 and FFP3 masks provide you with protection from...

How we gave up the TV Licence - Hassle Free

Yeah, I found the tone really annoying too. I don’t appreciate getting threats when I’m not doing anything wrong. They also had freepost everything if you wanted to sign up, but nothing to say that you didn’t have a TV. Now you can do it online, but they’ll still waste money sending you a letter...

    EDC Pens?

Yeah, they were about £130 and that’s way more than I’m willing to pay for it.

    EDC Pens?

I used to refill cartridges, but now I’ve decided it’s easier to just top up the converter every now and then, so I’ve bought a bunch of converters and am slowly swapping over. Liked idea of their new piston-filler (not my colour but more will come with time I’m sure), until I saw the price…

    EDC Pens?

I have several pens in my handbag, but this one lives in my pocket at all times. It's a Kaweco AL sport filled with DeAtramentis document ink

    EDC lighters or firemakers

I’ve got a Clipper lighter for ease of use and “just in case” (esp for the jetboil), but if I think I’ll actually need it, I bring a ferro rod or flint and steel. Got a gorgeous little set from Beaver Bushcraft for when the bigger ones are a bit too cumbersome.

    Jerusalem Artichoke

I've had Black Salsify, but only remember that they were fiddly to peel.

    guy line tensioners

I quite like the ones Hilleberg have on their tents, so I‘ve got some of their (both sizes) and put those on other lines as needed.

    Recent Walk 2

Oh, I recognise that place! Lovely part of the coast! :)

    "Best" outdoor lighter

I’ve got some Clippers and one with a mini extension on it that’s great for lightning candles and spirit stoves.

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22th April

Glad I’ve already bought some new fabric scissors.

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

It's funny how nobody in work raises an eyebrow if I get the Stanley knife out, but you take out a small pocket knife (easier to carry around between buildings) and some ppl make a comment. TBF most couldn't care less.

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

I am careful with what I carry and try to be considerate of others if going somewhere busier. E.g. nowadays I usually carry an Victorinox Bantam Alox to work as it’s looks more harmless and cuts open parcels just as well as my other EDCs. If I’m going away, I usually bring a pair of scissors...

    Baofeng Fanboys & Fan Girls

They're using some sort of Nokia battery if I remember correctly. I bought one spare and a charger (it's fairly small) and they last for long enough that it's never been a problem. The form factor is great for holding it in your hand or having it tucked into a pocket or something similar, but I...
