I will be spending 3 nights in the Cairngorms in January. I was wondering if anyone knew of or had preferred places to camp overnight in that area.

I spent a couple of days there some years ago and finding a secluded place without bracken or heather a couple feet deep was a pain in the backside.

I normally camp in the Northern Corries. If I’m climbing.

Otherwise I have camped near Glemore Lodge.

It’s increasingly difficult to find discreet spots in the area.

Consider the youth hostel on aviemore not that expensive and quite nice to return after a hard day on the Hill.

Cairngorms is fairly large. I spent a weekend just to the west of Braemar last summer on the northern bank of the River Dee. It was quite busy, maybe it'll be less so in winter.

On the first morning four deer walked across the river just behind my hammock :)
